It is the same every year, you spend 12 months preparing for a race, several hours on the day, before the “Ready, Steady, Go and then before you know it your first runners is back.
On a damp and/or humid day it was George King (Winchester & District AC) that led the field home in a time of 33:09 – followed by second placed Scott Edgington (Itchen Spitfires RC) in 34:45 and third placed Dave Coak (Eastleigh RC) in 35:42.
Our first placed women is now our new course record holder – Jen Elkins (Southampton AC) finished in 37:17. Rebecca Lord (Stubbington Green Runners & AC) was second in 41:06 and third Charlotte Bunch (Eastleigh RC) just behind in 41:37.
Club Winner honours were taken by Eastleigh Running Club in both the Men’s (Dave Coak, Andrew White, Jon Osman and Andy Lewis) and the Women’s (Charlotte Bunch, Sonia Rushby and Hayley Chilvers) categories. Wyvern College took the team award.
Age category winners were:
Senior – Jen Elkins (Southampton AC 37:17) and George King (WADAC 33:09).
V40 – Karen Wilshire (Fareham Crusaders 43:49) and John Payne (36:31).
V50 – Hayley Chilvers (Eastleigh RC 45:56) and Jon Osman (Eastleigh RC 37:12).
V60 – Elaine Grist (Eastleigh RC 59:59) and Martyn West (WADAC 40:48).
Our JUNIOR winner this year were:
15-16 – Masie Truscott (1:03:42) George Kemp (43:45)
17-18 – Dominic South (43:52)
Masie Truscott and George Kemp are our overall Junior Champions for 2016 and their names will be added to our shield trophies.
